How does Atl-Connect protect me from viruses

Viruses are a real problem on the Internet, and they generally spread by way of email. Atl-Connect feels strongly that it is in your best interest as well as ours to detect and stop viruses before they spread and cause problems.

Our mail servers are configured to scan for viruses every email that passes through them. If we detect a virus (either inline in the message or as an attachment), we will quarantine the email message and send a notification to both the sender and the intended recipient. The virus scanning engines are updated daily (or immediately when we get early notification of new viruses), which minimizes the chances of a virus getting through.

For a very few types of attachments which are generally only attached to an email in a malicious way, we simply block the message. This includes attachments with an extension of .LNK, .PIF and .VBS. If you have a need to send these types of files in an attachment, we recommend that you archive the file in a ZIP archive before sending.

It's important to note that we make NO GUARANTEE that we will stop any email-bourne virus before it gets to you. You should still use Anti-Virus software on your computer, update it frequently, and treat unusual emails with a healthy dose of suspicion. We do our best to trap it, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to keep viruses off your computer. However, note that we know of no major ISP that performs anything like the level of email virus scanning that we do.
