How does Atl-Connect protect me from spam?
Unsolicited commercial email, also known as UCE or spam, has reached epidemic proportions. Our customers have made it clear to us that they do not wish to receive spam. This article describes some of the things we do (and don't do!) in order to minimize the amount of spam you may receive:
- First, something we don't do. We will NEVER sell or rent our mailing list to anyone else. If you are an Atl-Connect customer, we may send you email about our services, but our mailing list is not available to anyone else for advertising. We may provide your email address to service providers who help us deliver services, but only in the context of providing services to you. We will NEVER authorize them to use your email address to contact you for any other reason.
- Second, we will gladly help you in setting up an account with SpamCop or any other third-party provider to pre-process your mail and remove spam.
- Finally, as of February 15, 2003, we check all incoming mail against a blacklist of known sources of spam, and we reject any incoming mail from the servers that are blacklisted. The list that we use is updated in real time, and has been proven to be extremely reliable.
It is important to note that the anti-spam measures we employ (particularly blocking mail from blacklisted servers) may in some rare situations result in legitimate mail being blocked. By the same token, we can't guarantee that our approach will block all spam, but in our experience, it can catch a significant percentage of it.
