Changing Dialup Settings / May 2004
On May 13, 2004, Atl-Connect began migrating customers to our new dial-up network. This FAQ explains the steps you must take to modify your configuration to switch to the new network. Please note that you MUST make these changes before July 1. 2004!
- Reconfigure dial-up networking to use a new number and username.
Recommended numbers are:

(404) 978-9706
(678) 223-9706

For Windows 95/98:
- Open My Computer from the desktop.
- Double-click Dial-Up Networking
- Right-click the Atl-Connect Icon and choose Properties
- Update the dialup number with one of those shown above
- Click OK and close everything to return to the desktop
- When you double-click to connect, you must add @atlcon.net to your username. For example, if your username is johndoe, then you must change it to johndoe@atlcon.net. Typically, if you've checked the "remember password" box, then you will only need to make this change once, and Windows will remember it the next time you dial-up.
For Windows 2000/XP:
- Click Start > Settings > Network Connections
- Right-click the Atl-Connect Icon and choose Properties
- Update the dialup number with one of those shown above
- On the Options tab, make sure there is a check mark next to "Prompt for username and password"
- Click OK and close everything to return to the desktop
- When you double-click to connect, you must add @atlcon.net to your username. For example, if your username is johndoe, then you must change it to johndoe@atlcon.net. Typically, if you've checked the "remember password" box, then you will only need to make this change once, and Windows will remember it the next time you dial-up.
- Modify Outbound Email Server Configuration
- Launch Microsoft Outlook Express
- Select Tools > Accounts
- Click on your email account and click Properties
- Click on the Servers tab
- For "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)", change the entry to read mail.atlcon.net
- Make sure that "My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication" is not checked
- Click OK, then Close
